In my writing class i was asked to write a paragraph on my favorite landscape, so i wrote on the swamp...
The sound of gun shots ring in my ears while i sit quietly breathing in one of my homes away from home. The swamp is a place the the paintball team, Walk Ons, to play at; it is their home field. It's beautiful because of all of the natural order to it in other words you can walk through it and 30 minutes later it has changed a bit. There are bunkers set up to hide in/behind while shooting at the opposing team. With all of the trees that are in and around the swamp it keeps it cool even it is 100 degrees in direct sunlight. When playing on the field, there is a mutual respect between both teams; if you get shot and the paintball breaks you call yourself out and walk off the field. If someone calls "blind man" you raise your gun and yell "assisting blind man" and help them off the field. The sting of getting shot lasts for an average of 10 seconds, unless you are being shot repeatedly (which has happened to me a few times). You get welts where you were shot there are also what are called "bleeders," which means that where you got shot is bleeding, those hurt really bad...as well as getting shot in the hand. At the swamp it is well advised to wear high ankle boots because even in my construction boots i have rolled my ankle a few times. The sunlight filters through the leaves of the trees and shows just how pure the air is in the outer parts of Lebanon. It also shows you were the paintballs are flying. The swamp is my stomping grounds for paintball, and also marriage counseling.
