Thanks to all of you for making my first TAW game a great experience. I learned quite a few things to do different next time (like know EXACTLY what my mission is before trying to do it).
Night Game: I spent the first half of the game defending the top half of the field from infiltrators trying to sneak around the brush to the top of the tower with one of the Pathfinders. When it started getting quiet, and I got tired of waiting for them to come to me, I grabbed my flashlight and started looking for them. I figured if I could find 'em (by way of getting killed) the rest of the team could zero in on them. I wandered around the flanks and couldn't find anyone. So I decided to just walk out into their half of the field by heading straight for the boat. All I could find was my teammates. I reached the boat and was going to head back on the top half of the field when the game was called because the americans were down to 1 or 2 players. GREAT job headhunting Smeed!! He knifed around a dozen of Pattons finest that night (I believe that was most of the the yellow players)
Day 2: I started the game as a spy and attacked towards Hannibal Hill. We took the CP and the people that were up there were just hanging back. I wasn't getting anywhere with them so i went back to the air shack to regroup and figure out where to try next. No sooner than I got off the field and took off my mask, Patton (GIJim) was behind me ..."yellow! how long til you are ready to go?". I put my mask back on and happily followed him back onto the field. He had a bomb to plant and it was just me and his bodyguard heading for their CP. He went directly into the CP to write missions and such and didn't tag in (so I didn't figure I could knife him til he did). While he was in the CP, a group of 5 more came in. I realized that one of the guys in the CP had a red armband and was bragging about being buddy buddy with the Walkons. He came out of the CP and headed out so fast I couldn't get a great visual on him, but I tried pass the word and what i did see. By now, the PUG and about 15 yellows were massed and we all set out down the path to do some missions. While they all walked on the road, I ran "shadow" and ran 50 feet in the woods trying to flush out ambushes (and radio our position and intention). Sadly, I couldn't get out too well from the bottom of the hill. But I had a great time changing flags after they all left. One of the yellows questioned my allegence so I bailed and changed back into my digi's and reported to Smeed to see if he wanted me to try again. I ended up going out with the Pathfinders for a few missions, and then teamed up with the team to for the final missions.
The Blender: It started off as a stalemate. Whenever we would push our right side, they would push our left side. I stayed on the left to try to keep them out. I just wish someone would have told me that guy was invincible before I rushed him or I would have attacked him a bit differently (lol, actually, I forgot there was an invincible player). At one point the yellow invincible pushed our left side and Spike attacked him with a knee slide leaving him a bit more exposed than I think he expected. Spike eventually gave in, but he endured a MASSIVE onslaught from close range (without padding like the yellow invincible had) HEIL HERR BLENDER GOD! Toward the end, reds had pushed over the 50 yard line on our right side, and Water Buffalo had made it across on the left. Water Buffalo was told to dig in, so Pyro and I (and others) did our best to protect him and our left side.
All in all a great weekend. Both generals did a great job of leading from the front. Both Smeed and GIJim were regularly seen actively engaged on the front lines. As a final comment I want to recognize all those that won prizes, but gave them away to the kids in the group instead.
I know I didn't write anything about the first day, but to be honest it is mostly a blur to me. Besides, I have rambled long enough
See you at the next one.
