I agree that the prices seem a little outlandish. My wife and I are both way into Firearms, as I'm sure a lot of you guys are too. Point being that most of us that have been around for a while are familiar with at least 2 sources of inexpensive gun parts, like say Shotgun News, or Brownells. If you are familiar with these type of publications then you know that you can get "parts kits" for a huge variety of guns for some really cheap prices. Now imagine using a Dremel or other similar tool to smooth out the inside of the stock and receiver of say an AK-47 "parts kit". I have never done this, but I have taken apart enough AK's to know that there is more than enough room in there to easily stuff an A-5 or C-98 in. I think the hardest part of the project would be aligning the stock to the barrel, but again, easily inletted with the Dremel. Like I said I've never tryed it but if you have or if you can think of a reason why it wouldnt work please let me know, I have seen AK "parts kits" at very low prices recently and am thinking of attempting this project. If you can contribute some good advice to this project please post or p.m. me. Thanks, Batman

I saw this on pbnation Yeah that's an Ion inside there. I wonder what the slot in the stock is for? I see something peaking out.. www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=1779996Here's their website, they've been doing conversions out of real hardware for a long time it looks like

Thats a standard M-1 carbine , the slot in the stock holds a mini oiler that doubles as the sling attachment point. That is one hella cool mod. and exactly what type of thing I was talking about doing. I would like to try it with a larger weapon as the base so I could stuff an A-5 in it. ;D

I forgot the link to the site that did the M-1 englerpaintballguns.com/engler.htmThey have a pic of their AK kit if you need some ideas. They fit the AK pieces around an A-5 though rather than fitting an A-5 inside of it. I like that M-1 a lot

Holy Cyclone Robin! Those guys have already built every gun I was thinking about trying, and very nicely I might add. I think I might still attempt a conversion just so I can say I did it myself, but if I'm ever a lottery winner you can bet those Englers are gonna find a home in my arsenal! You know Deeno, you can get an M-1 carbine stock really cheap and I'm sure if you put the ol bean to the task you could come up with something that didnt feed vertically. If you are interested I could hook you up with some sources for the stock.

I liked their Thompson with the cylinder mag It actually wouldn't be all that hard to make a horizontal feed for a qloader, you could just rotate the breech sideways. Or even just tilt it and make it a right feed. I'll have to test my SP-8 when shooting sideways to see if I get any curve from the ball detents, but I don't ever remember having problems with that and I know I've shot it lieing down before. It would probably ruin the look more than having a small hopper or 10 round stick feed though. Ion breeches/firing cans and a stock bolt/donut are super cheap too. Easily in the $25 range for everything as lots of Ion owners upgrade that stuff and there's not really a market for the used stock parts. I also already have a spare board with hoses and fittings and that would be all that's needed. The trick would be mounting the reg somewhere, but I think Smart Parts makes an on-tank secondary regulator. That would be ideal I think so we could just clip in with a quick disconnect on the mag like Engel did. Do you know if those M-1 stock kits come with the trigger assembly and mag? How much are we looking at for one of them anyways? LOL I seriously don't need any more paintball gear, but this is starting to get interesting
