A post I read. Posts: 122 Join Date: Jun 2007 Today, 09:52 AM This was a great game for everyone that attended as we had close to 150 people at the game and it was hard fought every inch of the way. Saturday the Vampires hit the Lycans side hard to start off with as alot fo the Lycans weren't on the field yet, this allowed the Vampires to hold the Lycans off for half of the day, however midway through Saturday the Lycan's came back taking their half of the field back as well as taking the night game in which only 10 Lycans held off a force of 15-30 Vampires. On Sunday it was the Lycans turn to control the field however as we controlled over 90% of the field during most of the day. During the final battle both generals were the invincibles and we protected our players well by acting as human bunkers for them to stand behind so they could take players out behind bunkers and such....I'm still counting the welts! Lycans took the final battle however it still wasn't enough to beat the Vampires as the score was Vampires 2275 points......Lycans 2175 points. Overall it was a realy close fought game and kudos and thanks go out to alll who attended and helped make it possible. Reply With Quote

What a weekend. In the year since I've been to Hoskings, a few things around the field have changed for the better. In the open "blender" area, there are a bunch of new 1 room buildings each of which have 2 doors and are set up for some up close action. This area was dubbed the "new city". Personally I think the blender area is a bit unbalanced now though. It's really difficult starting in the new city side as there's a lot of open area to cross in order to make it down to the boats and down the boat-side center it's very difficult to make the blackberry bushes. Coming from the old village tower side, they not only get to shoot downhill, but have great staggered cover leading up to both of the above mentioned areas. Wish I had the foresight to take some pics of the new improvements Past the old village, the newer CP was built up quite a bit and above the old sat com, there's a small Dish TV sized satellite under some camo netting. TAW also uses 2 different colored paints now. Yellow fill for the Lycans and Orange fill for the Vamps. This was a nice touch having either side shooting their own colored paint. As for the battle, Saturday was an absolute slaughter. I found myself in the enemy CP within the first 20 minutes. Some of the Lycan's had some spunk though and put up a good fight, but at one point when we were in the enemy's CP for the 3rd or 4th time, somebody got the bright idea to yell for us to "not pull the flag so that we wouldn't get evacuated by the refs and have to walk all the way back to our CP again" lol ;D This was the highlight of the day for me: A small squad of about 6-8 of us were working up the back door of the CP from the lower road side. I know Lumpy was there and Fiona was on point. She gives me the signal that she wants to do a little knife work and I follow her right up into what I assumed would be a futile doom. The rest of the group hung back and I pretty much just mimed whatever Fiona was doing. She got us to within a stones throw of the CP ( perhaps 10 yards) and the 12+ sentries were none the wiser. At this point the adrenaline was pumping and one of our boys lost their control and started spraying rounds. I hit the dirt and took a quick look around. The sentries were looking, but still hadn't brought their arms to bear so I wasted no time in shooting the first three on my right. Rounding the corner, I see 2 more running back to the defense and give them a few rounds to the chest. By now I managed to make myself a lightning rod and took one to the head. As I stood to walk away, I noticed Fiona standing there calmly amidst the chaos and somehow she had managed to stay incognito right in the middle of the gun battle. Then right before my eyes I see her transform from our beloved Princess Fiona into the Lycan's worst nightmare. She moved quickly and purposefully and gave the nearest defenders the tap on the shoulder, pulled the flag, and then blew the CP along with Tripwire while the rest of our boys mopped up the rest of the guards. After our business was done and we were strolling back to our side of the field, one of the players informed us that "Fiona is no longer allowed to tap people on the shoulder and must use a knife as the players were confused as to what was going on". lol it was priceless ;D The nightgame had no missions/purpose and only went for about 2 hours (ended around 10). The moon was perfect though and visibility was great Sunday was nearly a complete reversal of the day before. My hat is off to the Lycans for sticking with it. It is very very difficult to turn momentum like we had on Saturday around and they really took it too us. It seemed like we were quite fragmented and always getting caught in small groups while the Lycan's were moving well and working with a purpose. As far as I know they controlled pretty much the entire field for most of the day and we traded the church and village back and forth. A couple times they were knocking on our door, but I don't think they ever took it (could be wrong there). They also took the fight to us during the blender and IMO had the upper hand from the 5 minute mark onward. As always it was great seeing old faces and taking the field as a WalkOn.

Day One: I started the game an hour late having gun trouble. Vampires were pretty much kicking ass by the time I stepped onto the field. My first run took me to the back side of the wolfs den. With Deeno and Vdub behind me, we quietly flew into the their right flank. My first victim was a shewolf.......I gave myself some cover fire while running up to smite her. I turn to see 3 or 4 more wolves shooting at the vamps advancing on their front lines. I swoop up the hill and send two more to the underworld. They began to retreat so I led my squad around the hill to catch them and I ran into sunlight. I scanned the hillside and out of the shadows came a stream of rounds....my wings broken I head back to respawn. With the Wolf den in our control, we head back to our castle to let them regroup. While we wait, Deeno, Lumpy and I advance through the trees, randomly slaying werewolves. I move through the lower trees and spot a lone sniper. I watch him in my sites moving through the brush then he sees me.....damn, my guns on safe I head back to respawn while Deeno dispatches him.
Vampire troops are trying to advance on the Wolfs den again and are being held back at the tree line. I make my first attempt to blend in as a werewolf and make it into their front line but am stitched up by my own damn crew. Deeno heals me and we flank around. Again with the sunlight.......this time I go around and move in just below their base perimeter. No one is looking.....I quietly move in, turning my back to them they have no clue there is a vampire in their midst. One bunker after the next the werewolves die by the touch of my hand, then again I am shot down by my own troops as they advance on the wolf den.
After my break, I want to save paint and once again I head for their CP. Deeno, Lumpy and I sneak past the battles waging in Necropolis and glide around the base of the werewolf CP. On the back side we find the Reaper Army preparing an assault. I ask them to hold while my squad tries to blend in again as wolves. They grudgingly agree....for now. With gun down, we move in unnoticed until we reach the main perimeter. One of them spots me with his gun trained, I ignore him and keep walking. I'm almost to the first bunker about to assess my situation when one of the Reapers gets jumpy and starts shooting. Shit!! I take cover on the werewolf side of the bunker and act scared. Huddled up to conceal my red armband they shoot mere inches to the left and right of my shoulders to smite my squad. Sweet, I'm in. Fire stops for a second and I break for better cover near their CP. First wolf I come to is Killa....laying down a stream of paint at the Reapers. I say "good job not shooting me, by the way. Your dead" I pull their flag to stop the respawners and exact my toll....collecting several werewolf lives. I run back to the CP and slaughter their general and 4 others with him. All goes quiet so I move down the hill to clean up those on the front lines. There are a few more out in the field who need my gentle touch.....lay to rest poor little werewolves. I hold up my gun and yell "CP is clear" to the advancing vampire troops. They yell move in and swarm the wolf den...smiting a few stragglers along the way. Walking back to my CP a werewolf tells me I can't kill them anymore by just touching them, I have to use my knife or my gun barrel....not a problem....guess some of them were a little miffed about me clearing their CP twice without firing a shot.....LMFAO!!!
Night Ops.....Since I don't really do well at night games, I sought the comfort of my warm coffin.
Day two: We started this day out numbered 2 to 1 since giving troops to the defeated wolves the day before and losing some during the night. Against the odds......just the way I like it. I spend most of the day on Base defense. A few times I would move out to intercept an advancing werewolf or two. Our base was held most of the day by Deeno, myself, Reaper from Triad and Air wolf. At one point an Oracle was heading our way escorted by a red player.....wait a minute, I know who that is....I move in intending to barrel tag the wolf in red, but he is quicker and knifes my arm a second before I tag him.....but I was far enough away to respawn at my cp and start to move back in when Deeno realizes whats going on and slots the dog.....good job Coop. At days end, the Lycans had not overrun our CP once....though they tried several times.
Killa and a few of his squad are hanging out in the killing fields below my Castle and I watch him.....waiting....wondering what he is up to. I lose sight of him for a long time behind the brush and then spot him again moving through the open with a "prisoner". Clearly they are both werewolves so I wait......until they are well withing range before slotting them. I yell "nice try Killa!! It's hard to sneak up on me"....He replies with "you're a sneaky old hag"......no need to call names Killa......LMFAO.
Final Battle: Holy shit, we are out numbered by 3 to 1 this time and have the uphill side. I see no chance at winning so I decide to try walking across the line. I walk along the edge with my gun and my head down. I see them aiming at me but they don't shoot. I get across the line and still no one shoots. Sweet, I am almost to some cover but then a werewolf with a good memory sends me packing. We had 5 vampires across the line, but not enough for the win this time.
The Vampires were victorious and sent the werewolves back to the caves were they belong.
It was great to see you again Deeno. Thanks for making the trip up to play as a Walkon.
