I'm glad to see a lot of the guys could make this game. The first scenario was a warm up, straight up elimination--Walkons against the Filthy Few. There was some good battling as our team got used to the Filthy Few's back yard. It came down to a draw, after we'd battled for about an hour and a half. Fiona was the last one left on our team and Skinner was last for the Few. All of us in the dead box decided to call the game so we could re air and re ammo and get another game going. The second game was a capture the flag-type scenario. But here's the catch, each team had a base to return the flags to and there were 5 flags for each team. Each flag station had a flag with a number 1-5. You had to take the flags back to the base in numerical order. JBolt broke us up into a right and left echelon. Our base was out in the open, and seemed easier to defend against than the Filthy Fews base. He put me, Fiona, RD, Travie Patties, and another local kid on the right. Himself, Lumpy, Sampson, and Rando Calrizion on the left. Thumbs up to Sampson for doing a kick ass job as medic. Being a medic is one of the hardest jobs on the field and Sampson, for his first time at it should be awarded a metal of Honor for giving 110%. The game time was 1 1/2 hours. Skinner and I were the timekeepers for each team. The Few blew the start horn we started on patrol looking for the flag stations. We patrolled for about 40 minutes having skirmishes with the Few we hadn't located flag station #1 yet and Jbolts side of the echelon got pinned down and Sampson was with them keeping them in the fight. I radioed to JBolt--break off and lets keep looking for the #1 flag station. JBolt radioed back-we're in a pinch, can't move. Both of our teams had located 2 through 5 in that 40minutes but could do nothing without locating #1 first. I had to make a decision on either to support JBolts side of the echelon or continuing on to try to get some points on the board. I gave JBolt a sitrep--he agreed. Push on and look for flag station #1. We reconed North towards the river and found their base unguarded with the Few having homefield advantage we thought they might have an idea of where the flags were located. We saw in their base that they had already captured flag #1. I radioed that info back to Jbolt and his team, and told him we were going to push NE towards the Ranger trail--which is a tight trail on the NE boundary of the field. Fiona remembered that Flag #1 was on the Ranger trail in a well fortified bunker. Our team eased up in the vicinity of the bunker, Fiona on point, I'm second with RD on rear guard. Fiona stepped around the corner to go for the flag and took one in the face. By the sound of the gunfire coming from the bunker, it sounded like 2-3 of the Few were guarding that flag station. I called RD up and I had that other kid watch our back door. RD and I topped off our hoppers and I called on the count of three, we stepped around the corner and started blazing away, but those 2 defenders were dug in tighter than an Alabama tic and gave us the good news and sent us packin. That kid on rear guard bunkered in tight and stayed right there. Fiona, RD and I double timed it back to base to respawn and as you know, the dead can't talk. As soon as we respawned, I gave JBolt a report of what was going down. I told him that we were going to take the flag and hold his position so that he could keep the rest of the Few engaged to allow us to take the bunker and capture the #1 flag. Fiona grabbed the kid and showed him the rabbit hole and told him if he saw any one move in the bunker to dust em. RD and I were going on frontal assault while Fiona found the back trail leading into the bunker. I called several times to see if Fiona was in position, with no answer, I got jumpy and started the assault. I nosed my weapon around the corner and touched off a grenade right at the bunker. RD and I blasted around the corner guns a blazin, the defender bugged out right into Fiona's sights. I secured the bunker, RD grabbed the flag....Fiona, RD, Travie Patties, and the kid gave security on the flag back to the base while I held rear guard. I fell back to regroup with Jbolt and his team. We formed up just outside the hedges and started reconing down one of the alleyways. We had a good idea where the rest of the flags were from all the intel earlier in the game, so we moved with force and had intermittent battles with different members of the OPFOR at every turn. We finally located flag #2 and sent it back with security to our base. Jbolt, Lumpy and I were holding a secure forward position for our team to regroup when we heard voices on the other side of the hedge. I was on rear guard and hot footed it around the corner and low and behold, found Snakeeyes with his back towards me. And to coin a phrase "I gave him the good news" several times over. ;D Once our team regrouped, Jbolt took half to the left and I took the rest to the right, we started down the alleyways, Jbolt encountered heavy resistance and was busy holding down the OPFOR again, which gave us the opportunity to find flag #3. It was me, RD, and Travie Patties, we were going to take the flag back to the base when all hell broke loose. Rd was on point, I was on rear guard and Travie Patties was carrying the flag. We were headed back double time when Snake and Skinner had gotten in ahead of us and RD stepped out behind a hedge and they let him have it all over. I knew we were screwed so I put the barrel of my gun around the corner putting 50 rounds shooting blind in their direction. I yelled and charged next and that was the end of my battle. They pasted me good about the head, neck and shoulders. In the heat of battle, they started to blow by me thinking there were a bunch more of us and were going to waste Travie Patties when I yelled "He's just a Kid!" and stepped in front of their barrage just in time to become Travie Patties personal human meat shield ;D Travie and I dropped the flag right there were we were ambushed as the rules stated and bugged out to catch up to RD and respawn. As soon as we respawned, we called to our team, we had flag #3 and were ambushed. Gave directions to where it was laying, Jbolt, Fiona and couple other guys were looking around in the area and couldn't find the flag. There was mass confusion and talking over each other on comms, and by the time RD and I had made it back to the area, we still hadn't found the flag. RD and I pushed forward and RD grabbed the flag and Sampson, Lumpy, and Rando Calrizion gave security back to the base. The next 15 minutes, Fiona, Sampson, and the Kid recovered Flag # 4 while the rest of us were in a major fire fight with the Few. The Few sent all of us that were engaged in the fire fight packing because our Medic was helping Fiona take the flag back to our base. We regrouped at our base and JBolt said lets just move in one large force toward flag station #5. As we moved, we encountered intermittent resistance, we came up on the flag station and JBolt yelled, we have flag #5. We all hauled ass back to our base. Once we got the flag back, we called game with about 20 min left on the clock. Sampson had to go home after the 2nd game and we really missed his efforts on the field. After a long break, the last game was a take and hold scenario. Our team had an intel sachel and our goal was to keep the satchel for 1 1/2 hours. The Few's goal was to recover the satchel from us and take it back to their base for the win. Jbolt broke us into 3 groups. Rd, Travie Patties and the Kid were on base defense. Fiona, ShadowZ aka: rehabs son, and Rando Calrizion were on perimeter defense. JBolt, Lumpy, and I were on a harassment squad. We were going to flank around to the NE side of the field along the Ranger trail by the neutral respawn point. Lumpy, JBolt, and I were on patrol when we saw movement through a narrow funnel point on the Ranger trail. I don't know how many of the Few were there, but we had a very extended fire fight. Since we had the respawn point to our backs, we could respawn quickly and return to that funnel point without allowing them to regain ground. During the fire fight, my radio took a shit. Finally, JBolt , Lumpy and I broke through that funnel point and pushed the Few back. I was out of touch with my comms down, so we pushed on toward their base with me on point, lumpy in the middle and Jbolt on rear guard. We found their base unguarded and we could hear a massive fire fight taking place back in the direction of our base. Jbolt spread us out around the enemy's base, hoping to ambush anybody coming back with the satchel. I had the right side of our perimeter to guard. I started to set up when I had to take a leak. There was no putting it off either. So I slung my weapon and did my duty as quick as possible hoping that no one would shoot me. I got back into position to cover my end of our perimeter. when I notice some guys coming about 40 yards straight out in front of me, I was laying prone with my weapon pointed at them. As I let them close the distance, I took aim at the 2 lead guys coming at me and started to blaze away. Little did I know that their medic was right behind them and kept them in the fight. I raised up to one knee to get a better shot while hiding behind a bush, skinner laced me across the chest with 4 bounces. At the same time, Lumpy and Jbolt were under fire from their direction. I called for a paint check and stepped from behind the bush for skinner to check for a hit when he called no hit, I went back to my spot and took a prone position and started trading paint with 3 or 4 guys. And all of a sudden, I heard crunching and popping to my left. Just as I went to look, I heard the ugly end of Lucy's gun as he tapped me from my head to my waist at close range. I called myself out and headed to my respawn position and was half way back when I heard the Filthy Few yell "we won". By the time we got back to the staging area, it was 5pm and me and Fiona needed to head for home. I'd like to thank all the guys from the Filthy Few for another great battle at the Hedgerows.
