That's right folks, we're bringing back one of the Mountains best scenario games. The Battle of Okinawa, codenamed Operation Iceberg was fought on the Ryukyu Islands of Okinawa and was the largest amphibious assault in the Pacific War of World War II. On April 1st 1945, Allied forces landed on the beach of Okinawa. On July 29th, 2012 OKC Mountain will once again be transformed into the beaches of Okinawa. Choose your side, join the Allied forces and be a part of one of the largest amphibious assaults in history or attempt to rewrite history and join the Japanese forces in defending against the western invaders.
For this game we'll be needing generals to lead the Allied forces, and the Japanese forces. I'll be posting game layout and objectives soon. Put it on your calenders, this is a game you will not want to miss.
More info to come.
Arrival Time: 9:00am
Start Time: 10:00am
Entry: 2 cans of food to go towards the local food bank
Paint/Air: BYOP/BYOA
Allied Forces General: Adam "GQ"
Japanese General: Ben "Fuddlebunker"
I put together a little promo video for this game. Here's the link.

OPERATION ICEBERG 2: Typhoon of Steel
Intel is in and battle plans are being drawn. It is up to you whether victory will be yours. Respective sides study these missions and become familiar with your objectives.
Game 1: Invasion
Time: 90 minutes
Respawns: Unlimited
Medics: 1 per Team
Field: Full Field
Rounds: Unlimited
Points: Major Obj. 400 possible, minor objective 50 possible.
The “Invasion” game will be a 90 minute flag capture style mission. Japanese forces will start pre-placed according to Japanese Commander orders. All 5 flags will start Japanese and worth 100 pts a piece. The Japanese must defend these flags from landing US military forces. If the US reaches a flag, they will raise a US flag and the 100 pts will now be awarded to allied forces and deducted from the axis. Flag points can NOT be re-secured. Once it is over taken, it is surrendered for the entirety of the game.
Flag locations: (1) OK Beach, (1) Okinawa Jungle, (2) The Suri Line, and (3) The Suri Castle
Flags 1, OKC Beach and Okinawa Jungle must both be taken before moving to the next flag.
That said, respawn flags will located across the field with the same rules applying. Respawn flags are distinguished by short white PVC poles with Blue (US) or Red (Japan) tape on them. Japan will start with all respawn flags in their possession. Once an allied force reaches a respawn flag they can pull the Blue to the top and secure that respawn point. Respawns can NOT be re-taken, but Japanese forces CAN continue to travel passed them and disrupt US troops. If shot within 25 ft of a respawn point you CAN NOT respawn there and must travel to the nearest respawn point.
Minor Objectives:
A US plane is shot down while exercising a bombing run the night before the invasions. 5 high priority military packages were board and ditched just before the planes demise. Intel says those packages landed somewhere in the Okinawa Jungle, and near the Suri Line. Each package is worth 10 points apiece. Allies must defend the packages for the games entirety and Japanese forces must locate, retrieve and move these packages back Suicide Ridge (Japanese HQ).
US Army & USMC
The powers that be in Washington have decided that “OK Beach Head” will be the landing zone of its amphibious assault. Forces will secure a foot hold here, allowing re-enforcements to get ashore.
An additional force (5 troops) will be dropped down the beach toward the islands peninsula. This small group will be to help secure the beach and keep the Japanese from securing close by high priority packages (minor objective).
Locate and invade enemy strong holds and flag stations. US Commander will assign troops to his battle plan.
Japanese: Army of the Rising Sun
US infantry boats are pounding forward. Our forces need to get entrenched and defend our homeland. Certain forces will start in pre-placed bunkers around the field. Pre-placed bunkers can be permanently destroyed by shooting a rocket into the net attached to the bunker. The Japanese General will distinguish who will have the honor of being placed in one of these well placed kill nests. The rest of the forces will start this game at the table on road 1 in the Suicide Ridge area.
At completion of this game we will break for a 60 minute lunch.
Game 2: Japanese Offensive
Time: 30 minutes
Respawns: Unlimited
Medics: 1 per Team
Field: Maze (Okinawa Forest/Peninsula)
Rounds: Heavy Gunner Hopper +600, Rifleman Hopper +300
Points: 400
The Japanese forces have had enough defense and have been given orders to retrieve ground lost in the islands Peninsula. Three flag points have been placed on the front battle lines. The US must defend these points from their Japanese counter parts. Flags will be in a vertical line. The two outer flag points will be worth 100 pts a piece and the center flag worth 200 pts.
Once a flag is taken over, it is NOT frozen. Flags are up for grabs regardless of who controls them until game ends.
US forces will start pre-placed around the flags, but no further than the flag line (Meaning US troops can be at the flag line or behind it, but not beyond it). Once a flag is under attack, US forces may displace and move freely, but cannot move forward farther than 15 yards from the flag line. US Commander will assign his troops wherever he decides. The US respawn point will be located in the town. Japanese troops will start in the maze.
Game 3: Sabotage
Time: 30 minutes
Respawns: Unlimited
Medics: 1 per Team
Field: Full Field
Rounds: Heavy Gunner Hopper +600, Rifleman Hopper +300
Points: 400
Major Objective: Take Out the Big Guns! 200 pts
The Japanese troops have set up two anti-aircraft guns above OK Beach. They must be destroyed to allow for air support to continue. Allied Forces must destroy these emplacements to have a chance to continue their push on the island. The Japanese troops must defend these anti-aircraft installments at all costs.
To destroy an anti-aircraft gun a rocket must hit inside a net located on the gun. The hit must be confirmed by a member of the US force by lighting smoke at the destroyed gun position, once completed the Allied forces will receive 100 points.
Major objective: Grand Theft Weaponry 200 pts
The Allied troops have begun to store weapons and supplies near the Okinawa peninsula. Japanese troops have discovered the location of the Allied troops stash. Japanese troops must destroy the cache in the same manner as the anti-air guns.
Game 4: End of the Ends
Time: 20 minutes
Respawns: None
Field: OK Beach Town
Rounds: Heavy Gunner Hopper +600, Rifleman Hopper +300
Points: 50 points for each enemy killed.
If the game plays into mission 4, we will go to a battle royal of the last man standing. Teams will engage in a single elimination, battle will take place in the OK Beach/town region. Each player that is eliminated is worth 50 points.
For this game we'll be needing generals to lead the Allied forces, and the Japanese forces. I'll be posting game layout and objectives soon. Put it on your calenders, this is a game you will not want to miss.
