Supergame 43.
It’s hard to really put it into words. Pure adrenaline fun. Dan Bonebrake is an inspiration for what he can pull off. To keep a game of that proportions running smoothly is not an easy thing. You are a great leader with a great team of people. My hats off to you sir.
To all of our brothers and sisters here in the NW. The Walkons, OKC, Moongobbies, A-Team, Hellfish, Bad Karma, Cascade Commandos, AFL, NewBreed, Irregulators, OCMI, SSC guys, and the rest of Red and Yellow Army.
The festivities and entertainment provided by Walkons, OKC and Moongobbies Saturday night was awesome!! Foozball?! Are you kidding me!? Potato sack races!!! Bwahahahahahaha!!!Great, great times. You can’t put a price on that shit. Always, always love hanging with ALL of you guys and gals!!
Friday Night Ops:
The nightops was sick!! Us Operators fought up the right flank of Darkwood during the initial assault. We were not on a trail so the vegetation was thick and it was pitch black. We got into random firefights and fought hard to prevent an assault onto our boys holding Darkwood. We got behind their lines to start raising hell but we got ambushed by a lone yellow hiding in the bushes. He took a few of us out and we returned fire and moved further behind their lines. We eventually tied in with a couple Staunchy’s and moved out with them until we relinked up with the couple Operators that got shot earlier. We decided it was time to head for the DMZ. (At this point I only shot maybe 20 rounds out of my pump.) We moved up from the Castle area and just kept taking one bunker at a time. I got shot in the face early and ran to respawn. Luckily we all had radios and were able to relink up pretty easily. We eventually made it to the DMZ flag bunker. I was now on a shooting spree! Pumping away at targets close, then afar we didn’t waste a moment of time and charged the first set of white buildings. We made it and had a ton of people with us. I said “Let’s clear this building!” Unfortunately when you say such a thing, you have to lead by example. I was only carrying my pump but said “Screw it!” I charged in, rounded the first corner and delivered the good news to the black blob lying in the corner and immediately shot his buddy further in the building. Unfortunately for them everyone that followed me did the same thing. Good Ol’ Night CQB. I never stopped running the whole time and continued up to the window looking across the street to the next set of white buildings. I shot several shots into the buildings and their windows and then Murdoc comes up to the door next to the window I’m shooting at and yells words of encouragement and charges across the street. I couldn’t believe it! We hadn’t been in the building more than 10 seconds! LOL! I couldn’t let him go alone so I charged out there right behind him! I hit the spools at the halfway point and took a shooting position looking towards the netting. I couldn’t believe my eyes! I was staring at too many yellow glow sticks to count. Never again will I be able to fire my pump that fast. I can’t confirm how many I killed, but I’m pretty sure I hit them all at least once! My single man firing squad expedition was cut short when I was lit up bad by a yellow I failed to see stacked up against the wall of the building we just left. Back to spawn!!
After respawning, Murdoch, Gunny, SertCam and I were walking back to reinforce the white buildings. Murdoch was right in front of me talking when he just disappeared. WTF!! Someone turned on a flashlight and we saw Murdoch lying in a deep trench facing the opposite direction I expected him to be in. We asked him if he was okay and he just told us to keep going. He cared more about holding the DMZ and keeping the push going. You’re the MAN dude!! We pushed back to the buildings and were able to hold them off for the remainder of the time, securing all of the 200 points available for the NightOps!
Saturday Supergame:
Well, I volunteered to be one of 2 Medics for the Red Army this year. 2 Medics for 500 dudes. (What’s the saying? “Volunteering doesn’t pay” Ppfft.) It was an honor to hold the position. I hoped I lived up to the task.
We started the game backing up the tanks the best we could in the DMZ. We eventually pushed our way to Darkwood but pretty much ran into a stalemate match with yellow. Feeling like we could do more damage somewhere else we headed off towards the Hideout and managed to link up with our General and a huge squad headed to Jaeger beach. We tried valiantly to hold Jaeger until the end of the hour. We eventually got completely surrounded on all sides. They even had a tank on the road shooting us up. Every heal being 10 seconds felt like a lifetime. We finally fell just minutes short of getting the points. I was completely spent. We put out so much to hold it. Time to go lick the wounds and come back stronger!
Redeploying on the field we tied in with OKC and moved hard to the Hideout which was under attack. We divided up and started to move in to take the high ground from them. Man, this was tough!! We were in some TALL grass\stinging nettle\thorns next to the creek taking heavy fire from the high ground. We were literally lying on the ground in the sun. It was HOT in more ways than one! As medic I wasn’t doing much firing at all. I would get a Medic! Cry from the front line and I would crawl as fast and safely as I could to get to them and heal them only to hear some call from the position I just left. Crawl, crawl, and crawl!! It was crazy! The vegetation was so thick and we were blazing our own trail and running into OPFOR unexpectedly. The shooting going out and coming in was pretty much non-stop. Just madness! But we kept taking ground. 1inch at a time sometimes but we kept up the progress and eventually made our way up that entire hill, across the road on top and retook Jaeger. But we had to fight for every inch. Yellow did not make it easy not once! Great job guys!
We of course ended up at the DMZ battle for the end of the game. I’ll stick with the word madness to describe this one. That’s what it was, crazy madness. As medic I didn’t fire a shot. I barely had time to breathe in between healing. Ollie and I were kept busy the entire time. 10 seconds never seemed so LONG!! I dreaded every time I heard Medic! From inside the main flag bunker. It wasn’t easy getting in and out of there without being shot. At times I literally took some random with me as a meat shield. All of you on Red who were inside their earned medals in my book!! You guys were an important link in the chain to sustain that defense we had. Nice work!
Sunday Spoils of War:
Spoils of War. What a hoot! This was pure fun. My whole team and I hooked up with “The Mob” early. We just rallied from one spot to the next getting beads like crazy! I ended up with 25! HAHA!! The only other event worth mentioning was a move we pulled on the way off the field. We were all still alive, but with only a few minutes left in the game we didn’t rally down with the mob to the Swamp from Jaeger. Instead we just headed back towards the staging area. As we were coming up to the Hideout we could see several Yellow on the Darkwood side of the road heading towards the Hideout. Tone pulled out his camera, turned and faced us with his back to them and started to backpedal towards the OPFOR. Facing us he said “Photo-OP!” Roger that! The Ol’ Picture ambush! None of us had our guns up or gave any indication that we were out. As Tone kept backpedalling closer and closer to the yellow I could tell they knew something was up. I told Tone “That’s good dude.” He stopped. Took the picture. At this point I I saw one guy drawing his gun up. He knew what was up, the gig was up! Then Tone dropped the camera, and just as he did a yellow near the Hideout yelled “Hideout is neutral!” Yellow came running out in front of us towards the Hideout. As Tone bent over to grab the camera we unleashed a volley. It was a classic “Picture Ambush!” Most of the yellow took it really well and gave us props on our cleverness! LOL! Great way to end the weekend!! HAHA!!
This was one is going in the books. It was bitching to be able to just play and have fun all weekend with my team The Operators and the rest of you crazy bastards! I decided not to touch my camera all weekend, and it was awesome!! I love this sport so much. I will never quit playing it.
See you guys again soon!!
