Well guys, I was sitting down looking over the different grenade and rocket launchers and decided I would look up the parts to see what it would take to just build my own. I want one that is quick to reload, easy to clean, can be used with both paint and pocket rockets, and able to fire 10-15 rounds on a fill. What I came up with is an all aluminum launcher that would allow for a tank/remote and able to do all of the above. Looks like the price of it ( all retail prices on parts) would be about $165. Do you think something like this would be worth that kind of price? I know the name brand ones are around 3 to 4 hundred (full millism here). Anyway give me some input on what you think.
p.s. oh and this would allow you to fire your shots as little as 10 seconds apart so you could do a rapid 2nd shot if you miss the target.

I would like to see what you have in mind for your plan. I'm curious if will be commercial field usable or just for private games. Anyways, I can help if you want for building one and it could be half of your $165 price.

Cool I bookmarked that page, the law looks good but it's run off of 12 grams. I was looking more to something that would run off of a tank or remote line. I was thinking of a variation of this www.crewchiefpb.com/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=1but with a breach load that broke open just in front of the grenade used to power it. That would allow for just about any type of ammo you wanted, to include loading the thunder grenade with painballs. I was also thinking an asa with a remote line, or external tank with a buttcap to make filling easier.

I would not build that kind or any variation of it if I were you unless you want a paintball shotgun capable of 20' or a rocket of about the same distance. Also, that will cost a fortune to build.

Certain designs must be built very specific ways to avoid making just a big bomb. Some features you can have, others you can't.
Essentially you can have a small, inexpensive, heavier, and constant air/Co2 operated design.
Or
A larger, fairly light (but depends on the size), more consistent, can have a real trigger, and more field friendly (better chance of being accepted at a commercial field).

Hmm well I'll keep looking into this. Was just a thought, I had considered not using the grenade and trigger that is in that diagram and just using an electric trigger/valve for the firing, this would allow for full pressure air/ c02. By doing that you could adjust the fps by adjusting the air pressure going through the launcher with a reg

something like this would be more or less as long as you want to make it ( I was thinking 24 inches). If you just use it for rockets then it would only be a couple of inches around, and made out of aluminum so it would be fairly light weight.

You can put it in aluminum, you can also put it in PVC and it will still be light. 24" is short, very short for a launcher, even if run on a remote line. For a short but still effective barrel, it needs to be no shorter than 18" and the back barrel assembly is about another 6". Then there is the valve and expansion chamber behind that. Shortest it could end up being is about 36" for an effective launcher but it could be shortened for carry until deployment.
You can buy a valve to build one at the hardware store but to be safe, I highly recommend buying specialty valves online (1 of them Shrek should have) that can safely handle the extreme pressures. The rest can be bought at Ace Hardware or similar stores.

A The biggest problem with most launchers being built and sold is that they use a standard brass ball valve that is rated to only 650psi and max of 850psi. Most tanks that is the minimum pressure. I can point you in the direction of several inexpensive high pressure valves that have at least 2000psi working pressures.
