I didn't know you had an A-5? The best barrel you will find for it is the flat line. It wont make it quieter but you will love the extra range. I haven't seen any thing that compares. The downside to a flat line it doesn't screw in if you break a ball it hard to field clean. also it seem people try to out shoot their targets. they try to hit target that are out of range and blame the barrel because the ball don't break. just like any barrel you need to understand the effective range. my 2 cents

Im sure that you have already done it but pbreview.com has alot of info on barrels. also im sure there is some forum out there that is just for a5s. ive got a powerlyte system for mine (auto cocker)and like it. j&j makes a kit also that gets good reviews. after that cp has a good system also. there not bad on the pocket book.

I would have to say with my A-5 I've used the flatline the most and I like it the most in the summer and spring time. Winter or rainy days you can forget about it. Accuracy isn't that great but you can flat reach out and touch someone with the thing. Especially with an e-grip throwing allot down range.
Again the down side just like Mcrat said is that you have to remove it to clean it properly. You can't shoot through a break.
That Nelson Paint Fiona was shooting was sweet. I think that would make a killer combo. Very tough shell with that paint so it won't easily break in the flatline.
A barrel that has been the quietest and most accurate I would have to say is the Stiffi Barrel. I have not used it on an A-5. But with my tac one it rocks. The only problem it only comes in one size. The size I've seen it come in most is .689 Medium bore size as paint comes. So evil shoots the best through it. We all know how much evil paint costs.
I'm really not that impressed but RD and Randy swear by my wifes 32 Degree Whisper Barrel. I'm not that impressed you will have to ask them.
Hope this helps.

Fiona likes her stiffy it is quiet and accurate. But dose not have the distance like the flatline or our 18in Interceptor barrel.

I've heard you can adjust those to act just like a flatline even shoot around corners.

if you have time to adjust your barrel during a game you are doing something wrong. The apex is a cute idea but what happen when you forget that you are set on a right curve miss the bad guy and are out instead. Jbolt tell me if I'm wrong you can lean a-5 flat line on it side and get the same effect?

Yes I've heard you can I have never experimented myself. I have never used the Apex. I can only speak for what I have used. A Flatline I think would be a good solid barrel with the correct paint. If your looking for accuracy and silence go with a stiffi nothing will beat it. Just a pain in the neck to find good paint for it. You know a barrel kit might work for you to.

The difference in paint would warrant considering a Barrel kit. It saved Jbots day at the TAW game.

Dude I have a 12" Lapco Big Shot on one of my 98's and it does in fact rock. It has a muzzle break on it I'm not sure if the dishka will fit but if it does, holy shit that will be loud becouse the Big Shot is already plenty loud enough! If you want to check it out let me know and you can slap it on your 98 for a while.
