Absolutely......I love my A-5. It is inexpensive and reliable. Not so sure I like the WAS board E-grip though. The last 2 games I've played with the stock single shot grip and have had twice as many kills. Ions need to be upgraded to make them work well.

One thing to think about is the balance of your gear. I noticed that you carry
4x100 pods probably 200 in the hopper 45/45 tank
Maybe some of the a-5 owners can set me straight here, but I'm not sure that you can shoot 600 rounds on a 45/45 without going Low pressure. Also consider the fact that more often than not, you won't get the full fill to 4500. Many fields only hot fill to 3k (so you get around 2700). I really like to have a tank sized to where if I shoot all of my paint, I could still have air to borrow a pod or two in the best conditions (full 4500 hot fill). Not that I'll necessarily borrow paint under fire, but crap always tends to happen to me so I plan for the worst lol.
As an example, at the Civil War blender, I have an 88/45 (got a hotfill to 4200ish) and was carrying 7x150 + 200 in the hopper so ~1300 rounds. I shot all of it and had about 1k left which was about right as my cocker doesn't like to cycle quickly under 500-600psi. Just something to consider as I'm probably only shooting 4-6bp and with an electro, paint just tends to vanish from your hopper.
On the other side of the coin, Ions also need some amount of love after a day of play compared to your cocker. Gone are the easy days of wipe off the paint and dry cycle 2 drops of oil through your ASA. You'll have to do a complete tear down to lube up the bolt (which you'll want to do after a weekend of play). It's not hard, nor does it take long when you get used to it (30min?), but time is kind of precious after a long day(s) of play
For parts/repair, Rehab is right. Especially up here in OR, but you can be your own repair tech. The good news is that every kid on the block has an upgraded Ion so you can score spares real cheap. If you're paranoid you could pickup a spare board/solenoid and eye board for 20-25. That's the heart of the Ion and really all you'd need in case of catastrophe. O-ring kits are like $5 for 3 complete rebuilds, spare eye wire harness is $3, spare detents are $3 and then you have all the parts/spares you'll need for a long long time. Swapping the board out should only take 10min since you'll have all of your settings from the original board and you can just swap and go.
Anyhow, I don't think you'll be dissappointed either way you go and I'll see about bringing an Ion up to HB06 to let you try out so you can see for yourself. I think you'll be surprised how quiet they are. ;D

I love my ion it shoots great. The only problem that I had with it is my own mistake. I pulled the battery cable by accident and soldered it back, I may have ruined the virtue board in it ( to hot) it will no longer program. $ 130 down the tube...... but I will buy another board for it. But I also have a A-5 which is also great, either gun would be a great investment in my mind. Good luck in your decision Smeed.

Hey lumpy next time I see you, bring that board with you. I've done some PCB work in the past (program the computer on my Honda) and maybe the trace has just lifted from the board and we can fix it. Or maybe something else that's inexpensive to fix. What are the exact symptoms? Do you get power and normal functions (ie it shoots when you pull the trigger), but when you try to change the settings, you can't get it to start blinking mode colors? Rehab, you're just as bad as me, already planning upgrades for a gun you haven't bought yet lol. If we all show up early enough for HB06 and have time to kill, I could go through a complete field strip to show you what you're getting into. Also if you're dead set on aftermarket boards, you guys might want to take a look at a demo of the new board from APE that's supposed to start shipping in a week or two. www.goapeonline.com/video/ION_teaser.wmvPeople who have used blink type user interfaces will really appreciate how easy the interface is to move around in. You'll also notice that after changes are made, the board doesn't need to be power cycled. The training modes to show you your trigger pulling speed is also nice as none of the chronos around here that I've seen have a bps counter Also Rehab, the SP-8 is not just an ion body kit unfortunately, but a completely different gun. There are some cosmetic differences to the trigger frame (aside from it being right feed) that make swapping the body onto an Ion impractical. The internals do function the same though and are interchangable. I'm still hoping I can get my hands on one to demo next month!

Shrek's been interested in getting an Ion. He talked to Krazy8 about them at Civil War. Sounds like they are great once you get the right upgrades. You should talk to Krazy8 at HB06.
